Country Fest - or not

At work I won tickets to see a Country Concert in Downtown Salt Lake.  It was going to work out perfectly because I was headed to Salt Lake to get my hair done and Matt was going to install a radio in Val's car.  But we all know what happens to the best laid plans.  We did go down, my hair cut went well.  It took a little longer than we thought it would to get Val's car radio in since the Hyundai not so user friendly (he had to crawl all up under the pedals to get to the console and all sorts of other gymnastics).  Once that was done we headed downtown to go to dinner before we went to the concert.  Val came with us and we had some Greek food. (I was very disappointed in the restaurant.  We had eaten there before when it was a little more small town, it was a little too hipster for us this time).  After we finished eating we headed to the Art's show that was going on downtown to see if we wanted to look around there before Val headed home and we went to the concert, but then we saw that they were doing the short film festival!  I love the short film festival, so we went to that, not really knowing that it was going to last as long as it did.  But it was really fun (google An Evening with my Comatose Mother - unless you are my sister Chrystie). By the time it ended we walked past the concert and the guy at the gate said they were on the last song, so we just moved on and drove home.

I was glad we had tickets to get us to go downtown, and felt a little bad that we didn't use them, but with a day this fun, it is hard to regret anything.

Keane

I love concerts.  I really love outdoor summer concerts.  So when we heard that Keane was coming in concert to the Gallivan Center on a June night we were pretty excited to go.  My friend Lindsay and her family were planning on going and that cemented the deal.

It was a beautiful day for the concert, not too hot, but not too chilly.  The venue was shaded, but the air was still so warm that I was happy without a jacket.  We arrived just as the opening act finished (perfect timing).  the concert was great.  There was a little drama when a small argument broke out with some of the people around us (a guy was really bugged by people that were talking near him).  It was a really great show and I was ready for it to go on much longer than it did.  (they did come back for 2 encores, which was neat).

The Bay

My sister Chrystie and her family invited us to go to Willard Bay with them for the day and play on their Jet Skis.  I hadn't been to Willard Bay since I was a little kid, and Matt had never been there, so we were interested to see how it would be as a day at the beach.  It turned out great.  It was a little bit crowded, but not too bad.  We set up the sun shade and some chairs.  The kids had fun playing, we had a good time relaxing and reading.  Yep, it was a good day at the beach.

Treehouse Kidnapping

To keep up with our kidnapping goal we took my niece Arden out for the day.  Her mom suggested that we go to the Treehouse Museum since she had never been there, and it sounded like fun for us!  So we picked her up and drove to Ogden to visit the Treehouse.

The Treehouse had a lot of fun stuff for Arden to do.  There were a lot of art projects to put together.  We watched a little play and did a little bit of dress up, but the most fun was the tracing tables.  We spent a lot of time there.

Once the museum closed to drove over to McDonald's for some food and a little more playing on the playground.  We had a lot of fun!
