Happy Birthday Matt!

Yesterday was Matt's Birthday! Yep, he turned the dreaded three-oh. I am glad he hits it before me. We took it pretty easy for the day, since it was a Thursday and we are both pretty busy during the week with school and work. But I am looking forward to going on a Birthday date with him tonight, then spending time with the families.
Love you Matt! Happy Birthday!

Sushi

Tuesday night Matt and I went out to eat with his friends in Salt Lake. They decided it would be fun to do Sushi. I am not a fan of fishy foods. I really just don’t like them, so I was not too excited about the choice of restaurant, but Matt was happy to be trying something new, so I came along. We met at Ichiban Sushi in Salt Lake. It was happy hour, so the food we ordered was half price. That is good. Matt was brave and tried all sorts of sushi. I ordered the chicken spring rolls. Those were really good! I finally was convinced to eat one of the sushi. It was yummy, but it tasted like fish. I can now say that I have tried Sushi!

Cross Country Falling

Matt’s friend Scott was in town this weekend and he and Matt wanted to go Cross Country Skiing. For some reason I still can’t understand, they wanted me to come too. I tried to get out of it, but Matt was persistent and come Saturday morning I was dress warm and ready to head out.
We went up to Snow Basin. It was a nice day and the resort was crowded. I got out of the car and for the very first time in my life put skis on my feet. I will admit that it was awkward and that I was scared to death. We went along for a while, going slightly up hill. I liked up hill. But, when faced with a gradual slope down, I freaked out. I didn’t like being out of control, and I was very out of control. I made it about half way down the hill before I fell down for the first time. Then I went the rest of the way. My sweet husband traded me skis, because mine were faster than his, and I didn’t want to go fast. Then we had a good time sliding over flat and some up-hill. I was actually starting to enjoy the workout that I was getting and starting to have fun out in the winter. But then I was faced with another hill, and disaster struck. I fell and fell and fell until I just didn’t want to get up again. I side stepped it to the bottom, then up again, but then there was a steep hill, so I put my skis over my shoulder and walked down. Once I got to the bottom I strapped the skis back on and made really good time back to the car. I was so happy to take the skis off and sit down! I must admit it was not a very successful first time skiing. Matt assures me I did good, but I think he just wants me to go with him again. I didn’t break any bones, but I had some awesome sore muscles, and some very nice bruises to show for my day of fun.

25 Random Things

I was tagged with this on my Facebook page, and thought I would share it with those of you that don't have access to that. This is 25 Random things about me.

1. I broke my collar bone when I was about 2 or 3. I fell off a chair at my Grandma's house.

2. I was an evil child. My mom used to worry that there was something wrong with me. She once told me (once I had grown up) that she was worried about who would have been able to handle me if something happened to her and my dad. Good thing nothing happened. I think I have mellowed out a little bit.

3. My life plans never included getting married. I had plans of just being a spectacular aunt, traveling the world, and having lots of cats.

4. When I was in 5th grade I was the tallest person in my school. Not the tallest student, the tallest PERSON! I was probably 6 foot already, and I wondered why none of the boys would dance with me at the 6th grade valentine's dance.

5. I really thought high school would be like Saved By the Bell. Boy was I disappointed.

6. I have a crazy love for cheese. My mom would get mad at me for putting too much cheese on everything. Now that I pay for it I have mellowed my addiction a little, but I still love the stuff.

7. I am a big fan of sports - but I am not a good athlete.

8. I am deathly afraid of lightening. It takes all of my mental powers to not crawl under my desk at work when there is a thunder storm.

9. I am addicted to email. I check it all day at work - then I rush home to check it again even though I know I won't have any new mail.

10. I have an annual pass to Disneyland. I love just being there. If I lived closer I would just go there after work and watch people. It is so magical!

11. I just bought my first house, and I don't like buying houses, I don't like packing, I don't like moving, I don't like unpacking. But I love living here!

12. I love my Nintendo Wii!

13. I always lose to Matt at Dance Dance Revolution. He is good at that game.

14. Most of my favorite movies are 50 years old. I love the classics.

15. I teach the 8 year olds in primary and I really like it. Sadly I relate better to the kids than I do to their parents.

16. I wish I could spend more time with my nieces and nephews. They are so cute, and I really hope that we can be close as they grow up.

17. I hate winter once Christmas is over. It is just pointless

18. When I started college the only thing I knew was that I wasn't going to go into Accounting. Oops.

19. I have a house plant that I have kept alive for over three years. I think that is a record for me.

20. I met my husband at an institute dance. He asked me to dance, and I told him no.

21. If my feet get cold they cramp up into the most awful charlie horses.

22. I am a certified scuba diver - but I have only been diving in the ocean two times.

23. A couple years ago I had Lasik done on my eyes. It was one of the best things I ever did. I still get excited when I read the alarm clock in the middle of the night.

24. I am not ticklish.

25. I am signed up to run a half marathon at the end of the summer. I still don't know what I was thinking! I don't like exercise.

I will tag some friends for this. If you have already done it, go ahead and ignore it. It was surprisingly hard to come up with 25 things.
