Cayman Trip - Day 10: The long way home

Sadly, the day came that we had to go home.  We had to be to the airport around noon so we planned accordingly and got ready.  Matt, Preston, and Val went to do one last snorkel.  Preston read that there was a place with HUGE starfish that wasn't too far from our blue house, so they hurried out to get one last swim in.  Matt was kind enough to take some pictures for me.  He said these are the size of your head.

I stayed back and helped pack up, mostly because I didn't want to have to wash sea water and sand off of myself one more time.

Then we loaded up into the cars and headed away from the blue house one more time and off toward the airport.

I have never seen a more crowded airport than the one in Cayman.  There was no where for all of us to sit because there were probably ten flights leaving in the same hour.  Some folks hit the snack bar in the airport, but Matt and I were too cheap for that, and we just walked around and ate some free samples of Rum Cake (YUMMY!).

The flight from Cayman to Atlanta was not so bad.  Our strategy finally worked and we had an empty seat between us!  My cute niece came back to sit by us in that empty seat and we had a fun flight.  We reached Atlanta and went through customs, where we had to pick up our bags, and then check them again (so much fun!).  We found a place to eat and had some good food at TGIFridays.  Then went to our gate, to wait and wait and wait.  We took a ride on the train a down and back to burn some time and entertain the kids.  Then we waited some more.  Our flight was delayed and we were in the airport for what seemed like forever, but finally we got on our plane and headed back to Salt Lake.

It was midnight before we got home, so we sleepily grabbed our bags and found our cars and said goodbye to our vacation.  It was so much fun!  I was sad to get back to reality.

Here are some parting shots
