Disneyland Half Marathon

I think it is official that I have caught the half marathon bug.  I really enjoy doing half marathons, something I never thought I would be able to say.  I think the reason I do them all has to do with Disneyland.  If there was not a Disneyland Half Marathon, I never would have stated running.  This year things have worked out and I have finally been able to train for the race.  But other than the race I was also excited for a vacation!

Matt and I went to California with my parents and my sister Val.  We went out on Thursday night and on Friday we were at Disneyland!  We took a trip over to the race Expo on Friday afternoon and spent some time (and money) looking around at the vendors.

Saturday we went to the park again but left early go to out to dinner and to get ready for the race on Sunday morning.

Then it was Sunday. Race Day.  I was somehow placed in Corral E (which meant that I got to start in the 5th wave at the race.  There were 7 waves).  My dad and sister were both in C, so I was pretty far behind.  We got to the race early and waited for the start.  My corral started about 20 minutes after the first wave.  Then we were off and I was in a mass of people that were all going a little big slower than me.  I spent the best part of the race (the part though Disneyland) dodging people.  I didn't get to look up and see much of the sites.  But I had a really good race and was able to run the entire thing except for water breaks.  I finished in 2:26 (20 minutes faster than my last race, 19 faster than my record).  and I felt really great after!

The next couple of days we relaxed and spent some more time at the parks before we had to go home.
