Spring Break

Matt was off this week for Spring Break, so he and Emie got to spend a lot of time together while I went to work. They did a really good job together. Emie is getting bigger and smarter everyday. She now prefers to be sitting up to laying down (too bad she isn't yet good at sitting up by herself). She loves to roll from her front to her back - so tummy time doesn't last long anymore. She then will roll up onto her side. She has great hand control and can put whatever she wants to right in her mouth!

Wednesday was April 1st. I didn't play any April Fools jokes at home, but while I was feeding Emie in the morning before work I printed some signs to use as jokes at work. I printed two "use other door" signs and put them on the two doors leading into my section of the office. I also found some voice activation instructions for the printers. I know a couple people fell for the doors, disappointingly no one spoke to the printer.

Matt and Emie came to meet me for lunch one day and we went up to the duck pond for a nice walk. It was really great to see them and to take a walk during my lunch. It was also nice to enjoy the good weather, because it has been a roller coaster lately.

On Friday I went home for lunch and Emie was having a really hard time. She had woken up screaming about a half an hour before I got home and was totally inconsolable. She didn't want to eat and just wasn't happy. I was able to rock her to sleep and then I had to go back to work - so I left Matt in the recliner in the nursery with her and wished him luck.

We had planned to go to Bear Lake for the weekend to watch conference and celebrate Easter with my family. Matt called me at work about 4:30 to ask if that was something I still wanted to try and do because the baby wasn't doing well. I left work to go home and better assess the situation.

Emie was totally lethargic.  She didn't want to play or anything at all. She would just lay her head down and sleep wherever she was. She didn't want to eat- which is totally out of character - so we determined a trip to the clinic was in order.

On our way to the clinic we stopped by a dinner that Matt's college math friends were having. We had planned on going to that before we went to the cabin, and thought it was still important enough to make an appearance. We did that quickly and then headed to the clinic with the shortest wait time online.

We got there and it didn't take long to get in the room to see the PA that was suck working that night. The weighed Emie and took her temp - which didn't register as high - and then we went in to wait for the PA. She looked the baby over and with one look in her ear determined she had an ear infection. It made sense since she had been suffering from a cold for a few weeks. We got a prescription for an antibiotic and then went home.

We gave her the first dose and then put her to bed. Not much later we noticed her being really fussy in bed, but not being awake. I check and she had a crazy high temperature. We consulted the information given us by the doctor, and knew that there wasn't much we needed to do. We already knew what was causing it - because she had an ear infection - so there wasn't much to do but snuggle with her on the recliner through the night to make sure she could stay asleep. I stayed up with her and pretty much continuously checked her temperature to make sure it didn't pass the threshold of where we needed to panic. Finally about 5am she calmed down and went into a peaceful sleep - and so did I. But it was a crazy night.

Saturday morning she took a long nap - and then like magic was acting like she was feeling better! I was so Happy!

I am starting to slow down on taking pictures, but here are some of her on Wednesday.
