October Fun - Columbus Day

October is the time of year when the weather really starts changing, and I am still not accepting it.  I still want to play outside and have fun, but sometimes Mother Nature has something else in mind.

For Columbus Day weekend Matt and I thought we would be able to enjoy one more weekend out in the sun, but it wasn’t to be.  It was one of the first coldish weekends of the year.  Snow fell in the mountains and it was rainy and cloudy all around the valley.

But that didn’t stop us from trying to have some fun.  On Saturday morning we woke early and headed out to Mountain Green.  There we had breakfast (or breakfasted) with Matt’s Aunt and her family.  Once we were all fueled up we headed to the park for a morning of soccer.  We watched games for both Isaac and Eli.  It was impressive to see how much more controlled the older kids are.  But the little ones are fun to watch run around too.

After the games Matt and I wanted to take a drive to see if there were any good fall leaves to see.  We were probably a little too early for the real good leaves, but we were able to see some nice views.  We had a gift card to Ruby Tuesdays, and the only Ruby Tuesday in Utah anymore is in Park City.  So that is where we went.  We drove along the back of the mountains and into Park City.  There was snow on the mountains and it was still snowing as we got there.  I wasn’t really dressed for how cold it was, but we walked up and down the road and watched the other tourists as they walked up and down the main street.  We were cold enough that we didn’t hang around too long before we packed up and went to lunch.

Overall it was a nice way to spend a cold Saturday at the beginning of October.
