Fair-weather

As we do every year, we put on our Red Necks and headed to the Weber County Fair. Matt and I met up with my sister Chrystie and her family.  We started at the petting zoo.  The kids were able to feed the goats and other small animals.  There was a cute little baby horse that was only a couple days old.  Very adorable.

Matt and I took a detour and walked over to look at the photography and the crafts and stuff over in the air conditioned building (though it had nothing to do with the fact that it was like 100 degrees outside.)  I keep thinking that one of these days we are going to enter some photos in the fair, but we never do.  Oh well.  It is probably more fun to just walk around and judge other people's work.

We met back up with everyone at the duck races - my brother-in-law Preston was lucky (or unlucky)enough to get picked to race a duck. His duck didn't win.

After the duck races we had some dinner (yummy Navajo Taco!) and then walked around the barns looking at pigs and horses and cows and such.  Then it was time for the demolition derby - the real reason to go to the fair.  It was pretty good this year.  There weren't any huge memorable events - no big fires or fights or anything, but it was a good show and there were a lot of cars participating.  I think it ended just as the kids were totally losing their ability to focus, so it was just the right length.  We hurried out and beat the traffic.  I say any fair that ends that well is a good fair.
