It was a little less traumatic to go to work the 2nd week. Monday was Emie's 3 month birthday. We celebrated by taking pictures with her bear.
She had a good time with the babysitter. Here is a picture of her enjoying her bottle. She has become quite an eater. And she sure let's you know when she isn't satisfied, or when she is ready for another bott.eOn Monday night Emie and I went to visit my Grandma Wilson at the rehab center where she is staying. Grandma was really excited to hold and love on the baby. She fed her her bottle and had some good snuggles before we packed up and came home. Matt was studying for a State test he has to take as part of his teaching program.
On Monday I noticed a bump growing behind my ear. When I got home from visiting my Grandma I had Matt take a look. there was a huge bump there, and also lower on my neck. We determined they were my lymph nodes, but that they were crazy swollen. I decided to make a doctor's appointment the next day. When I went in, the doctor said that when he sees nodes that big, he tends to get a little suspicious. So instead of telling me to just wait it out, then did some blood tests. The first thing they tested for was to see if I had mono. I guess it can cause the node in the back of your neck to swell. That came back negative. They also did a complete blood count to check for any obvious infection, or to also look for signs of something more serious. They didn't see anything to concern them (and I didn't have mono), but they decided to send me out to get an ultrasound on my neck, just in case.
Wednesday I drove over to the clinic to get an ultrasound on my neck bumps. It was not as much fun as getting the ultrasound of Emie, that is for sure. I scraped all the jelly off my neck and went back to work.
Meanwhile, Emie was having a great time with the babysitter. This is her with some of the kids. They love to help take care of her. The 2 year old refers to Emie as "her baby". It is great when I drop her off to see how they come and talk to her. She gives them such big smiles! I know she is taken care of and loved all day!
On Wednesday night we went to visit my Dad. His birthday was on Thursday, but they were going to be busy, so we snuck over a day early. They bought us some KFC to enjoy and we had some cake and ice cream.
Emie loves to play with her Grandpa!
Thursday I kept pestering the doctor for a call back. I wanted to know what the ultrasound had shown. I finally got a call back and he said the ultrasound was inconclusive (and that was good news), so I was just supposed to wait and watch and let them know is about 6 weeks if nothing changed, or if it got worse.
Saturday was Valentine's day. We didn't make any exciting plans because we didn't have a babysitter. We also decided to avoid the crowded downtown. Matt made dinner for me and even brought it to me where I was watching Emie play. He even set up candles, so, technically we had a nice candle lit dinner - in the basement - with the baby.

Cute pictures! I had a really swollen lymph node a few months back...it was pretty big, but it just went away on its own in a few weeks. A little scary though. Maybe us Haun girls are prone to giant lymph nodes. I remember I got one in high school and thought it was a tumor and that I was going to die.
When Mom broke her hip, I had about 3 bumps behind my ear and at the top of the back of my neck, and my ear hurt when I poked at 'em. I decided to wait to go to the doctor until I knew what was up with Mom. by the time we were all settled and comfortable with rehab, they had shrunk. Gone now. Hope yours disappear like that.
