Happy ValenBirth Days!!

On the 12th of February we celebrated my Dad’s birthday. My sister was great and got us all a reservation at Ruby River for some delicious steak. We were a little late getting to the party because we had been babysitting all day in Sandy. But we got there in time for food, which is the important part. Dinner was great and it was fun to see everyone. After dinner the true partiers moved on to my house for cake and ice cream. We sang Happy Birthday, ate, and did presents and then the night was over.

The next Monday was Valentine ’s Day. I will admit there were a few years in my life that I didn’t like February 14th very much. I still kind of think it is a trap for guys. The poor things just don’t have a chance. If you do great and get your girl flowers and chocolates, then you are meeting expectations. If you don’t, you disappoint. Totally not fair. I decided because it was such a one-sided holiday that I would try to make it about Matt instead. Sadly, it was a working day, so not much could happen until I got home from work. I was all ready to get home and go pick up some Café Rio and then go to Comedy with Matt. Totally fun, right? Well my plans were changed when I got home and found a candlelit dinner waiting for me. What a great guy! We still made it to comedy and had some laughs. It was a good night.

Roll forward a few more days and it is Matt’s Birthday! He turned 32 this year. On Saturday I took him out on a treasure hunt from Ogden to Salt Lake and all around the valley. It was a fun little trip with clues that took us to different places we had visited in the past. It was cold and rainy, so we were not able to get out and enjoy the different places very much, but it was nice to spend time in the car with Matt just talking and remembering.

One of our stops was the Institute Building where we met - it stopped raining long enough for us to go outside

The big surprise at the end of the treasure hunt was a surprise party for Matt with a bunch of friends he hadn’t seen for a while. We met at Fat Cats and had pizza and bowling. I hope Matt enjoyed it as much as I did.

The only picture I took at the Bowling Alley.  Sorry it isn't any good.
Sunday we got to have the second day of birthday parties for Matt. We went to his Mom’s house in Sandy and had birthday enchiladas and his Birthday cake. It is so much fun to spend time with Matt’s family. I loved watching the little kids running around and singing songs. They enjoy playing games on my phone, and they played until the battery was gone. Matt’s sister brought her cute little dog, and it was so sweet to see Matt’s little cousin taking care of her by bringing her water – lots of water. When the dog was done with the water, he offered to finish it for her.
Matt's Birthday Cake. For you nerds, he has 6 candles because he turned 100,000 in binary this year.  (one was supposed to be lit)

We had a great time spending so much time with family and friends. By the time President’s day rolled around on Monday we spent the day sleeping and relaxing (and playing Super Mario Galaxy 2). So far February has been good to us (minus a few snow storms and a really bad drive in the snow). Hopefully the rest of it is just as much fun.
