Pizza and Hoops

As I mentioned before, I spend way too much of my time surfing free stuff and daily deal websites. Another of the items I recently came across (after a reference from a girl at work) was a thing called House Parties. She came to work one day saying how her sister had signed up for this and then got all the hot dogs and other fixin’s for a barbecue. I was interested and looked into it. There were not any parties that I was excited to through until recently. They had a Digiorno Pizza and Hoops party where they would send people coupons for free pizza and some other free stuff and a bunch of high value coupons and all you had to do was have people come over and taste the pizza. I signed up and was surprised when I received notice that I was selected.

I decided to have my family come over during March Madness, which also coincided with my Mom’s birthday. We lucked out that the BYU Gonzaga game was on, it was fun to watch. We ate pizza and talked and had cake and other snacks. It was a fun night.

Matt had the great idea to get balloons for the kids to play with, so we stocked up on those while we were at the store and it was a hit. They had a good time hitting balloons around and playing with the little basketball game that came with the party package.

I thought I would be ultra creative and a tried to create an ice cream cake for my mom. We bought one recently for another birthday and it was pretty pricey. I figured I could do better than that. I should have done more research on the Internet, but instead I climbed in head first. We baked a cake, cut it in half and filled it with ice cream. Then we put it back together and froze it. I think it worked out OK, but if I make another one I would probably modify my method a little.

It was a lot of fun to have everyone come over and watch the game with us. Basketball is more fun when watched with other people. Oh – and I can’t finish this post without pointing out how badly we all did with our brackets this year. All of us are completely out of it, and the final four hasn’t been played yet. What a crazy year for basketball!
