I was able to talk my family into signing up for the Ogden Marathon Relay again this year. It is such a beautiful race, but I have a hard time training for a half marathon in May, so it works out great. We did a little shuffling of the team this year, so I did the 2nd leg instead of the 3rd. My Dad still did the first leg, or the first 7 miles. I took the next 6, and finished at Eden park. My little sister Val took the next one, from the park to partway down Ogden Canyon. My older sister was lucky enough to run down the canyon and pass off to her husband, Preston, in his marathon relay debut.
I had to arrive super early and my dad picked me up. We lucked out and boarded the last bus to go up the canyon, and it was a nice bus. So we arrived with only a few minutes left before the start of the race, dropped him off and then drove us back down to my starting spot. I didn't have to wait long (though I was all set with a blanket and a chair) before he came through and I took the baton (or actually bracelet).
When I finished I drove Matt's uncle's car down from Eden and picked Matt up at our house and then met my Dad at the park. We were able to catch Preston crossing the finish line and get my medal.
Surprisingly no pictures were taken. It is hard to believe, but I know I didn't take any, and I couldn't find that anyone else did either. Oh well. It was a fun race and I had a great time.
