It was one of those really good, really busy weekends. The kind where you are always coming or going, but you are also always doing things that you really like doing. Yep, it was one of those.
It started on Friday night. We were invited to Ray and Joan's to watch the Jazz game. We had a great dinner before the game started (the best part? the chocolate shake with dinner. Who wouldn't love that?) and then moved in to watch the action. It is fun to watch a Jazz game with some real fans (fly that flag proudly!) Now, had the game ended a little differently, it may have altered the course of the entire weekend. But luckily, we came off with a victory and the weekend was saved. Actually, I probably could have survived a loss and still had a great night.
Saturday started out with beautiful weather. Matt and I went for a walk along the River Parkway in Riverdale. It was wonderful and relaxing, until my mom called and said they would be coming to get me in a few hours; I still had so much to do! So we hurried home and got changed and went shopping. I was in charge of choosing a baby shower present for my cousin Jayme. My mom had suggested we get this little pillow called a Boppy. Now I don't know about you, but I am totally out of the loop when it comes to baby paraphernalia, but all the reviews on the Internet said it was the most wonderful thing, so that is what we got. Then we hurried home we I could wrap it, and we had just finished when my mom and sister Chrystie pulled up to take me to the party.

Some of you already know my opinion on showers. I usually say that the only people that should have to go to wedding showers are people that are already married, and the only people that should go to baby showers are people with babies. They are sort of a "welcome to the club" party and it can be hard when I am not in the club. However, this one was good because it was set up more like an open house, so we didn't have to play any of those baby shower games (like the melted candy in the diaper or the baby food taste test) so that was great! Still, I took the easy way out and offered to play outside with my niece Arden while my mom and sister gave their wonderful advice to the mother-to-be. (What advice could I give?) It ended up being fun and I got to see a lot of people I haven't seen in a while and we talked and had fun.
Saturday evening Matt and I went to a Bees baseball game with Chrystie's family and my cousin Kati and my cousin Troy and his family. We made the mistake of not eating before we got there, so we were privileged to be able to spend way too much money on food. That always brings a smile to my face. But we were also able to watch the kids play and have a good time. We had seats WAY out behind, well I was going to say third base, but I would say more of left field. We had to stare into the sun a little, but not for long. Once the sun went down it got cold. The game was not going well, with the Bees down for most of the game. Matt and I took Arden out walking a little in the 7th inning, and while we were gone the Bees scored about 7 runs. So we were happy when we got back! The party broke up, but Matt and I stayed to the end of the game and were able to see the victory secured.

Sunday was Mother's Day!!!! We have 1:00 church, so our morning was pretty uneventful. We ate breakfast (I made pancakes) and then went to church. I teach the 6 and 7 year olds in Primary, and they are so cute. It wasn't my week to teach, just my week to babysit, and it was hard. Those kids were hyped up this week! But we made it through that. At the end of church I got my Happy Mother's Day candy bar from the ward (they can't discriminate to just mothers, so it becomes a Happy "any female in the ward over 18" Day present). I shared with Matt since he is just as much of a Mom right now as I am. We got home from church just in time to watch overtime at the Jazz game. Again, we were very pleased with the outcome when the Jazz won. As soon as the game was over we hopped in the car and drove down to Sandy to visit Matt's mom. We always love to see her, and were a little disappointed that we just missed Becky and the kids. But on the good side we were able to spend some quiet time with Bev. After visiting her and wishing her a great Mother's Day we ran down to wish Joan a great day too. We got there just in time to interrupt their dinner. And, of course, they wouldn't let us go hungry and fixed dinner for Matt and I too (and a yummy root beer freeze!) We talked for a while, then, seeing that the time was getting late we drove to Layton to get a quick visit in with my mom before the day was over. We made it, and just in time for cake (no, I didn't eat the cake, not after the root beer! - but we took some home.) It was fun to see my Mom and wish her a great day too.

Sorry we had to bail on the game...Arden was soooo grumpy the day after anyway, I guess we should have just stayed! We will have to do it again soon.
